I want to look GOOD!

I often get asked what exercise burns the most calories? Is most effective? Makes you look the best? So on and so forth. The answer is simple. It’s all relative.

First, don’t exercise simply for how you will look…looks fade and shit happens. What do I mean by that? Depending on what your expectation of self is; a look that is difficult to achieve will be difficult to maintain. How much time do you wish to dedicate to your “looks”? And how long do you wish to maintain this look? Listen, I happen to think when there is too much emphasis on how you look, you happen to lose a part of yourself and then getting older and less fit sucks. Yes, you can keep looking excellent for the rest of your life, but the actual LOOK is secondary to how you feel. You could look awesome and feel like shit. How does that translate to satisfaction? How long do you spend maintaining that awesome facade? Do you obsess about exercise and do you obsess about food? And shit does happen…injury, life, etc. Can you maintain your level of intensity?

Second, what burns the most calories? Most effective? DO NOT workout to burn calories! If you workout to negate your poor habits, things will most likely go wrong at some point. I hope life never overwhelms you. I hope you are never faced with being sidelined. Food is great, wine or whatever you prefer are all great and fine. But enjoy without stressing over whether or not you are able to burn those things off. Yes, life should be enjoyed…enjoyed! Enjoyment comes with true balance. Workout because you feel like a rockstar badass, not because you feel bad about the donut you consumed at 3am because you drank too much and had no sense.

Third…do I even need a third?

I own a gym and I care about how I look and how I feel. However, I spent many a year obsessing about those things in a very unhealthy way. I was consumed. I would workout for 3 hours after binging. I would pop pills so that I might have a chance to look like my “ideal” (which honestly, I have no idea what that was). I was not truly happy. It’s hard to be truly happy when you are so consumed by any one thing. I think exercise is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself. There is no greater FEELING in the world. Feeling! When you workout without mirrors and are forced to feel…man oh man…YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! In that moment, it doesn’t matter what you look like. You are one with the music, the room, the energy…that’s what exercise is suppose to be. Lose yourself in the moment and know that right then, you are amazing. In that moment…all things are possible.

I suggest you pay attention to how you feel. I suggest you ask yourself what’s MOST important in life. I suggest you be the best version of yourself while maintaining a positive and honest sense of self.

This site is for everyone, regardless of age or gender; it is for the individual whose best is under construction and wants to lead a life of optimal health and true happiness. EatThatMonkey.tv is not about fad diets and one-size-fits-all fitness, it is about optimizing health and performance of Body (using the I.I.T Method), Mind (Got Monkey?) and Soul (food for the soul-because good health starts from the inside out). These elements don’t operate independently. We will also discuss real issues that real people face regarding body image, sleep, relationships, parenting, what happens behind closed doors, and all other things related to “life.”

I spent so many years hating my body and not accepting it as it was. To compensate for my horrible self-image and lack of self-esteem, I took fat burners, went on every ridiculous diet on the market, over exercised after binging, and even went so far as taking hypo-thyroid medication to lean down to manage an out-of-control over eating problem. I did myself a great deal of emotional and physical damage with that state of mind. My journey, my transformation has been a lot of trial and error. I live it every day. I am a human being that struggles with the same choices as everyone else and knows how to facilitate change and create a life of total wellness.

Through a great deal of self-analysis and personal responsibility I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and become a better version of myself. The road was not always smooth and it took a significant amount of effort, but every step along the way has been worth every ounce of tears, sweat, and effort that I put in. Now, I want YOU to reach down deep and find the desire to uncover and unleash the most amazing version of yourself!
