All About the Bass…I Don’t Think So!

It was brought to my attention by the ever lovely Lori Marie Gerczak that the song is NOT uplifting. And I agree. Sure, she’s bringing booty back and her Mama told her not to worry about her size…both great things. However, to Lori’s point, she goes on to talk about…

“You know I won’t be no stick figure silicone Barbie doll
So if that’s what you’re into then go ahead and move along…”

“…I’m bringing booty back
Go ahead and tell them skinny bitches that
No I’m just playing. I know you think you’re fat…”

…if the core of your message devalues other women based on their physical appearance, you’re not promoting an ideal that helps women in the way you believe it does. Are you playing Meghan Trainor? I somehow don’t think you are. On more than one occasion, she conveys that “average sized” women are what men prefer. But then goes on to say men like a little more booty to hold at night. What’s so positive about defining body type as being more desirable in one’s ability to get laid…how is that positive???

The words “skinny Bitches” is not positive…it’s not nice…some people are skinny. What about the silicone barbie dolls…breast implants are evil too? We don’t know why people make the decisions they do. It is not our place to judge them, just as it is no ones place to judge a curvy girl. Forget if you happen to be a “skinny girl” that was unfortunate in having to have a double mastectomy and elected to have breast implants…do we judge her…or should she simply tell her to accept the fact that her boobs were chopped off because of CANCER!!!!!!?????? What the hell is wrong with everyone?

There is nothing positive about trying to feel better by mocking the appearance of another human being.

Now, don’t get me wrong, the song is catchy and fun; however, positive and oh so uplifting…NOT! I’ll still play it in my classes because I truly don’t care if you weight 110 pounds or 310 pounds…you’ll still get my Love and Attention…and that “Come On” yell!

Do I care for plastic surgery as a means to make you feel better about yourself. No. Because at the root, it is deeper than that. However many cc’s is never going to fix what is usually happening in the mind. Again, not my place to judge. I have my own complexities in life. The person we most need to accept is our SELF. When that happens, it’s pretty easy to be accepting of others. You feel me?

Please, start thinking about your conversations. Your words. I will repeat what I tell people daily…the people with the greatest confidence lift others. Lift one another. Be accepting of one another…but first, be accepting of yourself.

Why EatThatMonkey.tv?

Because Life doesn't get Better...You DO!

This site is for everyone, regardless of age or gender; it is for the individual whose best is under construction and wants to lead a life of optimal health and true happiness. EatThatMonkey.tv is not about fad diets and one-size-fits-all fitness, it is about optimizing health and performance of Body (using the I.I.T Method), Mind (Got Monkey?) and Soul (food for the soul-because good health starts from the inside out). These elements don’t operate independently. We will also discuss real issues that real people face regarding body image, sleep, relationships, parenting, what happens behind closed doors, and all other things related to “life.”

I spent so many years hating my body and not accepting it as it was. To compensate for my horrible self-image and lack of self-esteem, I took fat burners, went on every ridiculous diet on the market, over exercised after binging, and even went so far as taking hypo-thyroid medication to lean down to manage an out-of-control over eating problem. I did myself a great deal of emotional and physical damage with that state of mind. My journey, my transformation has been a lot of trial and error. I live it every day. I am a human being that struggles with the same choices as everyone else and knows how to facilitate change and create a life of total wellness.

Through a great deal of self-analysis and personal responsibility I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and become a better version of myself. The road was not always smooth and it took a significant amount of effort, but every step along the way has been worth every ounce of tears, sweat, and effort that I put in. Now, I want YOU to reach down deep and find the desire to uncover and unleash the most amazing version of yourself!
